Kim Harrison's Dead Witch WalkingKim Harrison Offers a New Book Series of Vampire and Witch Novels
Dead Witch Walking began Kim Harrison's novel series of witches, vampires, pixies and demons. With the release of the sixth book, the series has exploded in popularity.
When Kim Harrison's debut novel Dead Witch Walking was released in 2005, the author was completely unknown and the book received very little marketing. But, as fans discovered this new talent, the success of Kim Harrison snowballed. Her fantasy series now encompasses five books with a sixth to be released soon. Dead Witch WalkingThe first novel introduces the witch, vampire and pixy that live together in a church and work as private investigators. And yes, it's just as strange as it sounds. Kim Harrison's fantasy world uses an alternative history scenario, with events taking place in the last forty years bringing the Earths vampires and other non-human creatures coming out to humans. The novel is fascinating and rich in detail, but it suffers from being a little less than well written. As a debut novel, the lack of skill is somewhat understandable and the plot and characterizations more than make up for the few clumsy passages. The Good, the Bad, and the UndeadThis novel focuses more deeply on the problems that are caused by a witch and a vampire living together. One of which is of course the vampire's desire to drink from her roommate. This is compounded by the witch's human boyfriend and a host of complications that come from their investigations business and a pesky demon who won't leave them alone. Every Which Way but DeadIn this one, the witch delves far more deeply into the world of demons than she ever intended. Needing to make a deal with a particularly horrific demon, their lives go in a different direction than any of them want to go. An elf is introduced into the mix as well, adding to the assortment of magical creatures that inhabit their daily lives. A Fistful of CharmsThough there are werewolf characters in all of the Kim Harrison novels, this one is the one in which they figure most prominently. The characters become embroiled in werewolf politics and find themselves involved intimately in the budding class between vampires and werewolves. For the first time in the series, the characters leave the Cincinnati area and take their adventures on the road. For a Few Demons MoreAs the characters become more and more entrapped in the evil web that has enveloped them, each supernatural society is battling against a rising new threat to the power of vampires. As the main characters from the series get too involved in the power play, the witch finds herself at the very center of the struggle. The Outlaw Demon WailsIn the latest chapter of Kim Harrison's series of witch and vampire novels, the heros are forced far deeper into the realm of demons than ever before. Their fates become entwined with the fates of demons, whether they like it or not.
